As the tenure of the current administration and most political leaders draws to a close, one is inclined to consider how heads of government have performed and whether such performance will have an impact on the forthcoming elections. In assessing achievements, many Nigerians have formed their opinion on the basis of newspaper adverts, social media campaigns and some propaganda. Others have had the....
As Chief Executive of a small business, I experience, firsthand the pains and frustrations that many business-owners face in Nigeria. Some of the challenges include high operating costs, limited and almost nonexistent access to financing, stiff competition by larger corporations and a poorly skilled labour force. An estimated 80% of small businesses fail within the first five years of operations and of those that survive very few scale up to becoming medium firms within ten years. Support for small and growing businesses across the country is weak and financial institutions have little or no incentive...

The road was visibly worn out and vehicles were forced to navigate carefully. At some points, the dual carriageway collapsed into one lane as some lorries had overturned and parts of the roadhad..

Over two years later, the issues remain and no one appears to be asking why? In my article of 15 May 2014, I argue that we are the government and it therefore behooves us as citizens to demand accountability from our leaders. The current administration, under....
Today, one may dare to say that the Nigerian public sector operates with a different set of norms than the rest of society. Recruitments appear to be based on connections rather than merit; promotions tend to be based on tenure of service rather than...

When Governor Godswill Akpabio amended the pension laws of Akwa Ibom State, what was most perplexing to me was the whooping sum of N100 million that was set as the limit for annual medical benefits for each ex-Governor...
